We believe that humanity begins in children and
their realization of how valuable their actions, words, or even
a smile can be toward individual growth and to the everyday well
being of the people surrounding them. In memory of Aubrey Rose
Hollenkamp, we follow through our mission of carrying out the
positive impact she had made on so many people by helping children
and families who have also made a positive impact on the people
around them.
Since 2001, we have organized
a children's educational scholarship program in honor of Aubrey
Rose. Aubrey made such a difference in many people's lives
within her three short years here on this earth. To honor
her and her achievements, we base our scholarships on a childs'
kindness and willingness to give back to our community.
Our scholarships are for those students who have a compassionate
heart unlike other scholarships that are based on academics or
athletic ability.
How do you become a recipient of an Aubrey Rose
Hollenkamp Scholarship? Scholarship applicants submit an
essay and are judged by a panel consisting of the student's school
staff members, Aubrey's Grandparents, George and Nancy Frondorf,
Aubrey's parents, Jerry and Nancy Hollenkamp and Aubrey's sister
and brother, Carly and Spencer.
In 2009, we gave out 29, ( 27
in 2008) $500.00 scholarships awarded to 8th grade students who
are going on to a Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
These outstanding students have made a difference in the lives
of people around them. Scholarship applications were due by Friday,
January 30, 2009 to the Aubrey Rose Foundation to be considered
for a scholarship.
In 2010, The Aubrey Rose Foundation
is expanding our Scholarship Program to students who not only
go to Catholic grade schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati
but now we are adding Catholic grade schools in Boone, Campbell
and Kenton Counties in Kentucky and also Catholic schools in Southeastern
Indiana.
The scholarships are given out to the students
at their graduation or their awards ceremonies where the parents
are invited. This is extremely important piece of our scholarship
presentation so that the parents are surprised along with the
scholarship recipient to hear their name being recognized for
them having a kind-heart.
About the Scholarship Reception
Our goal for this Scholarship Reception is to
have the scholarship recipients and their parents, the 8th grade
teachers, grade school principals and the high school principals
from the schools where the recipients will be going to, in attendance.
We want this Reception to be so motivating and uplifting and we
want everyone to walk away knowing what an honor it was not just
for the Scholarship Recipient to receive this award but also for
everyone to walk away with a special feeling in their hearts and
smiles on their faces!
On June 10th, 2010 the Scholarship Reception
was such a wonderful evening. Scholarship recipients could
meet other students who will be going on to high school.
And it was a night where their new principals/administrators
could meet the recipients as well. We had Anthony
Buford, ARF Board Member and head of the Junior
Scholarship Board speak first and with his a great speaking
voice, he spoke volumes to the guests at this Reception.
Anthony is a dynamic motivational speaker! Next we had Mike
Staud, Junior Scholarship Board Members speak about
what being a member of the Junior Scholarship Board really
meant to them. He truly is a role model for our scholarship
recipients!
Here are a few comments from some of the parents in attendance:
“Nancy’s
presentation was incredible. My thanks to Jerry for doing
such good job of reinforcing what I try so hard to impress
upon my own children – the responsibility that comes
with living well. I so appreciated his telling the kids that
as they enter high school, they now have “a target on
their backs.” And, Anthony, I could’ve hugged.
My daughter was convinced I had paid him to speak about the
responsibility that comes with being so electronically wired
to the world.”
Another Dad wrote: “The Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp Foundation
is one of those rare organizations that makes people “want”
to help others out. Thank you for a wonderful evening. It
was very inspirational and motivating for all of us.”
We also presented our ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARD
and normally we give it out to one scholarship recipient
and their family who has literally gone above and beyond
with help the Aubrey Rose Foundation. This year was a tough
decision because we had many famililes who pitched in and
helped but there was two families to stood out this year
and so we decided to give these awards to both families.
Allie Stevens and Blake Bischoff
and their families received the 2010 Above and Beyond at
this Reception. Blake Bischoff is a 2009 scholarship recipient
from St. John the Baptist-Harrison and is a sophomore at
LaSalle. Allie Stevens is a 2009 scholarship recipient from
St. Ignatius Loyola School and she’ll be a sophomore
at St. Ursula Academy.
Both Blake and Allie and their families embraced Aubrey’s
Foundation with such a passion helping out wherever needed.
Their support was evident in everything that Aubrey’s
Foundation was a part of. It was a unanimous decision to
award this honor to the Steven’s and Bischoff families.
With the Above and Beyond Award comes a $1000 scholarship
for Blake and Allie’s sophomore year tuition. Congratulations
Allie and Blake and families.
